Teachers and the students (pupils) in Assin Oboba M/A basic school a suburb of Assin fosu in the Assin north municipality C/R are calling on the government and the ministry of education to come to their aid immediately, because the staffs feel anguish in their heart as they are asked to work in such deadly structure.
The school building in Assin Oboba from basic One- to -six currently has become a death trap that can harm the staffs, pupil and even the people around the area.
According to the head Master Mr. Kuntun Blankson, whenever it rains no one is able to stay in the classroom, because all the Six classrooms block has turned into sieve. When it starts to rain, they have to pack all their documents to one corner in the office just to avoid the water droplets. Mr. Kuntun said, when it rains, water would drop in almost all the classrooms which has weakened the school building, but due to inadequate of classroom blocks, they have no option than to go back to the same classrooms after the rain. The head Master said, the situation has ended the school of losing a lot of its materials.
He therefore stressed that the country may witness another disaster if the dilapidated structure in Assin Oboba is not renovated or reconstructed entirely.
Addressing the media, all the staffs lamented that, they find it difficult to use the classrooms whenever it rains. In their conclusion, they are therefore appealing to the government, the MP for Assin north constituency, Mad. Abena Odwura and the MCE, Mr. Fiifi Baffour to as matter of urgency step into quickly remove their grievances, otherwise, the condition may compel them to lay down their tools or close down the school.
